I aspired to create a pleasant environment and interesting space, enabling an ever-changing enjoyable experience for park visitors. I focused on the less desirable aspects of the original environment, such as the views, drainage, and circulation, emphasizing on a design that gives a sense of solemness. It was through all these aspects that I arrived at the theme ''Shadows and Reflections'. I also made sure that the floral choice and arrangements were natural, making use of trees for the creation of shadows and providing a calming effect. The tranquility shelters park visitors from the commotion of the city. The trees project the thin and tender shadows of the branches and leaves onto the water. The shadow tells stories of children growing up and the passing of time, as the day gets older the shadows of the trees and structures to shift and as time passes and we mature our reflections in the reflective pools change

The Relaxation swings, designed as informal seats enabling sitting, meeting, and play, providing an additional unique experience compared to regular seats and swings. The inclusive design of these swings offers activities for a wide range of age groups. It balances people's recreation needs and environmental quality time

Collected rainwater runoff will be treated and used to fill the reflective pools and play pool. Park visitors can observe and interact with the water. Children in the park will have the opportunity to feel, to touch, to learn, and to enjoy nature as they grow up. Nature elements, such as sunlight, plants, flower, rainfall, ponds, fireflies, and butterflies are part of their daily life and will have a lifetime positive impact on them. Another highlight is the tower that children can climb up and slide down.

'Butterfly Hill' with butterfly-attracting plants and water features to mitigate rainwater flow on the slope. Butterfly Hill is a hill showcasing an explosion of colors, with plants carefully selected to attract Singapore's rich faunal biodiversity, emphasizing on butterflies, allowing interaction between humans and nature. By inviting butterflies into our parks, we create an opportunity for biodiversity while promoting an ecosystem for flora and fauna on a different level. Fauna in parks plays an important role in enhancing family bonding as well, nurturing a child's curiosity, and providing a stimulating experience for sensory development.

Rooftop Bar overlooking Butterfly Hill

Rooftop Bar overlooking Butterfly Hill. The bare roofs of the buildings are an eyesore from higher up the hill. as the site is located in Clarke Quay, known for its restaurants and bars, a rooftop bar in a park would not only decorate the roof but also give the park some nightlife as well.

'Ficus Hill', a hill filled with Fig tree species that attract birds, there are also bird perches for birds to land on making it an attraction for bird watchers and photographers. The red path serves as a red carpet for the park visitors. Recognizing that the fig tree is intrinsic to human evolution, ficus hill seeks to bring people, flora, and fauna, back in touch with each other in a dense urban ecosystem. Figs are a key resource for birds and other animals in Singapore, in parks because they produce abundant edible food throughout the year. There are many species of figs, and they do not bear fruit at the same time,so there are likely to be at least some figs available at any season. Birds are especially attracted by Ficus kerkhovenii, Ficus microcarpa, Ficus pisocarpa,Ficus sundaica, and in particular, Ficus benjamina. Figs attract green pigeons, bulbuls, orioles, and a variety of other birds

Entrance to the park, with reflective pools filled with stormwater runoff from the hill and flowering shrubs along the sides. Reflective pools provide reflections in the park. The reflections provide an ever-changing enjoyable experience for park visitors and provide an interactive space on a different level. The trees project the thin and tender shadows onto the paths and water. The park visitors are free to run their fingers through the shallow water. The water evokes an immediate sense of calm and relaxation to visitors, rejuvenating the mind, body and soul

Nest pods.JPG

Nest Pods provide a peaceful sanctuary that serves as a relaxation star gazing area among the bustling city. Helical structures surrounded by the lush fig trees that provide a habitat for birds an opportunity for biodiversity. The nest shape is symbolic of the nests that home the birds in the fig trees. The helical structure allows sunlight to enter while at the same time providing shade for relaxation and bonding.

Living among gleaming skyscrapers is part of the city's charms. Although life s hectic, it's always nice to settle into a tranquil corner to catch up with loved ones and recharge your energy surrounded by lush greenery. The gazebo relaxation area is a place to unwind and rest. This area is going to be an explosion of color from flowering plants, also making it a good photo opportunity. The beauty of sound, movement, and vision blend together in a park. Bell chimes that resonate with a sweet melody are scattered across the park. Passerbys will experience a musical discovery as a harmonious sound escapes the chimes.
